Privacy Policy
Last updated
SERP Times (serptimes.com) is run by Akif Qureshi, an individual based in India ("we", "us"). This policy explains what personal data we handle when you use the site, why, and what you can do about it. To contact us about privacy, use the contact form.
The short version
- You can read everything on SERP Times without giving us any personal data.
- We don't sell personal data, and we don't set advertising cookies.
- If you send us a message, we use your name and email only to reply.
- Text you type into the browser-based tools stays on your device.
What we collect and why
Messages you send us
The contact form asks for your name, email address, a topic and your message. We also record the time and your IP address to protect the form from spam and abuse. We use this only to read and answer your message, and the form only sends it when you choose to submit it. Messages are delivered to our mailbox at Hostinger.
We keep messages for up to 24 months and then delete them, unless we need one longer to deal with a legal claim.
The free tools
Most of our free tools, such as the word counter or the slug generator, run entirely in your browser: what you type never reaches our server.
The three URL checkers (the redirect checker, the on-page SEO checker and the robots.txt and sitemap checker) send the address you enter to our server, which then requests that page from the website concerned, identifying itself as SERPTimesBot. We keep each result in memory for up to 10 minutes so repeat checks are fast, and we hold your IP address in memory for up to an hour to enforce a fair-use limit. Our application doesn't write either to disk.
Bot protection
The contact form and the URL checkers use Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from automated abuse. To do this, Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address and details of your browser. Cloudflare's Turnstile privacy addendum explains how.
Analytics
We may use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people read and how they find the site. Google Analytics sets cookies (such as _ga) and collects pseudonymous data like the pages viewed, the type of device and an approximate location. Google states that Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. Analytics runs only on serptimes.com.
Server logs
Like any web host, Hostinger records standard access logs: IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. These are used to keep the site secure and working, and are kept according to Hostinger's own policies.
Stored on your device
The site uses your browser's local storage, not cookies, to remember your light or dark theme and your recent searches. This information stays on your device and is never sent to us.
Embedded videos
Videos use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, and nothing loads from YouTube until you press play. After that, Google's privacy policy applies.
Who processes data for us
We use a small number of service providers to run the site: Hostinger (hosting and email), Cloudflare (bot protection) and Google (analytics and video, as described above). Each handles data on our behalf or under its own privacy policy. Some of them process data outside India. We don't sell or rent personal data to anyone.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us what personal data we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you also have the right to have your grievances addressed and to nominate someone to exercise your rights. If you're in the European Union or the United Kingdom, the GDPR also gives you the right to object to or restrict how we use your data, to receive a copy of it, and to complain to your local data protection authority.
To use any of these rights, send a request through the contact form and choose "Anything else". We'll reply within 30 days.
Grievances
Questions or complaints about how we handle personal data go to Akif Qureshi, through the contact form.
Children
SERP Times is written for professionals and isn't directed at anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children.
Security
The site is served only over HTTPS, so messages and tool requests are encrypted in transit.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal data, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
