    UTM Link Builder

Build campaign URLs with consistent UTM parameters so GA4 reports your traffic sources correctly.

Runs in your browser: nothing you type is uploaded.

Existing query parameters and #anchors are kept.

    Campaign URL

Add the website URL, then the source, medium and campaign.

    How to use it

    1. 1

Enter the page URL people should land on.

    2. 2

Fill in the source (where the visit comes from, like newsletter), the medium (the kind of channel, like email) and the campaign name.

    3. 3

Add a term, content or campaign ID if you need to tell ads or links apart.

    4. 4

Copy the tagged URL and use it in your email, ad or post.

    Why it matters

Without UTM tags, clicks from emails, PDFs, some apps and chat messages often show up in GA4 as direct traffic, so you can't tell what worked. Tagged links let you compare campaigns side by side.

GA4 sorts traffic into channels using the source and medium. Stick to standard mediums such as email, cpc, social or referral, so visits land in the right channel group instead of “Unassigned”.

GA4 treats values as case-sensitive, so Email and email become two separate rows in your reports. The builder lowercases values by default and turns spaces into hyphens to keep naming consistent.

    Frequently asked questions

Which UTM parameters do I need?

Always set source, medium and campaign. GA4 also reads term, content and campaign ID, but they're optional.

What's the difference between source and medium?

Source is where the visitor came from (google, newsletter, linkedin). Medium is the kind of channel (cpc, email, social). Together they decide which default channel group GA4 puts the visit in.

Should I use UTM tags on internal links?

No. A UTM tag on a link within your own site replaces the visit's original source, so a visitor who arrived from Google search gets credited to your tag instead. Only tag links that point to your site from elsewhere.

    Do UTM parameters hurt SEO?

Not on links from emails, ads and social posts. Keep them off internal links and out of your sitemap, and keep a canonical tag on your pages so tagged URLs aren't treated as separate pages.

    What is utm_id?

A campaign ID. GA4 uses it to join your visits with cost and campaign data you import, for example from another ad platform.
